Free Chlorine to start September 27, 2016

On September 27, 2016 the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County will be reverting from Chloramine disinfection to a Free Chlorine residual for the winter months for the Indian Creek and George R. Sweeney Water Filtration Plants.  It is normal for customers to experience stronger Chlorine taste and odor during this time. MAWC changes disinfectant seasonally to provide our customers with safe and clean drinking water that meets or exceeds the state and federal standards under the Safe Drinking Water Act.

The water supplied by the McKeesport Water Filtration Plant will continue to provide a free chlorine residual as normal.

Office hours at the Authority are from 8:15 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, and  via our drive-thru. However, we can be reached 24 hours a day should an emergency arise.
